Skandasana (Half Squat or Side Lunge pose) is a variation of Malasana (Squat pose) where one leg is stretched out towards the side. It is a great stretch for your groin, adductors and hamstrings, and it helps to prepare your hips for deeper hip-opening poses like Wide- Legged Seated Forward Bend and Frog. Skandasana also improves your balance and strengthens your core. Hands can be dropped to the floor for support, brought together in prayer position or opened wide. Root into your feet so that your body is lifted instead of sinking. I usually include Skandasana into vinyasa sequences because it facilitates a dynamic flow. Please, DM me for current schedule of my online and studio classes. Last but not least- I love the colour scheme and composition in this photo. Thank you Zara Nasibyan. I didn’t realize the photo would come out so cool.
